Possibly the best video game ever?

Finally, the most anticipated video game of summer 2008 is finally here, and I can safely say Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the best installment Konami has ever created.

Touted as the final chapter in the saga, MGS4 follows Solid Snake as he travels around the world in pursuit of his arch nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. Armed with new gadgets and abilities, Snake must shift the tides of war in his favour, using the chaos of the battlefield to infiltrate deep into enemy territory to foil Liquid Ocelot's plans for total world domination.

As well as comprising the most technically stunning visuals ever to grace a video game, MGS4 also shows how storytelling should be done when it comes to gaming.

Beautifully combining slick narration with fine gameplay is really what makes this game leap into a league of its own.

The shooting mechanisms are extremely tight and it's quite easy to find your way around in the game.

Meanwhile, if you're a gadget fan, you'll love MGS4's features as there are plenty of cool gadgets and gizmos and weapons that you can tailor to suit your own battle needs.

There is plenty of fun in store for online fans as well, because up to 16 players can battle it out individually or as a team to defeat Liquid Ocelot. Additionally, the Sons of the Patriot system, known as SOP, allows team mates to visually synchronise and monitor each other's status at all times.

But that's not all, the game will keep you busy all summer as Konami will continually release downloads, including new maps, new game type modes, as well as skins and weapons. Who needs vacations?
