Legendary British band The Stranglers are all set to perform in Dubai later this year.

The group, comprising Jean-Jacques Burnel, Baz Warne, Jet Black and Dave Greenfield, will play at the Irish Village on October 3. This show will be the first in a series of intimate gigs to take place at the popular Al Garhoud venue, organised by concert promoters AEG Live Middle East.

"Once Ramadan ends in October, The Stranglers will be one of the many exciting events held this autumn at the Irish Village," Mohammed Khwiss, Events Director, AEG Live Middle East told Emirates Business.

Originally known as The Guildford Stranglers, the band started out gigging at small venues around the United Kingdom in 1974 until 1976, when they landed their first record deal. Their debut album, Stranglers IV – Rattus Norvegicus, propelled high into the British music charts in 1977.

Forty-two hits and five decades later, things couldn't be better for the group. In 2004, The Stranglers' made a comeback with the acclaimed Norfolk Coast album, as well as a subsequent sell-out tour.

Late last year, the band played at a sell-out gig at the infamous Roundhouse in North London, marking the 30th anniversary of their headline run at the same venue in 1977. The band is now set to release a collection of their works, FortyTwoForty, later this year.
