With the Dubai World Cup 2010 less than two weeks away, the UAE's fashionistas are turning their attention to what to wear on the big day.

This year's Style Stakes at the inaurgural event at Meydan Racecourse promises to be more competitive than ever as female race goers vie to be crowned "Best Dressed Lady".

And to help the fashion fraternity along the way, organisers of the Stakes Competiton have issued a number of tips and guidelines to help women reach the winner's enclosure. Perhaps the most imprtant aspect of any self-respecting racegoer is a hat or fascinator.

But ladies – and men – also need to add some of their own flair to an outfit, especially if vying for the "Best Dressed Couple", organisers have said.

"Participants entering the 'Best Dressed Lady', 'Best Dressed Couple' and 'Best Hat' competition should be aware that the judges are looking for style, originality and attention to detail, as well as appropriateness of outfit for raceday," said a spokesperson, highlighting that decentcy is the order of the day.

Any kind of revealing attire, will be frowned upon.

Instead, women should look for an outfit – be it a dress or top and skirt – that is accustomed to the races. The judges are also looking for individuality, and an outfit that suits the wearer rather than it being chosen because it is high fashion.

But a nod to current trends will put you closer to the finishing post.

Attention to detail, and co-ordination of an outfit is essential so perhaps it would be wise to invest in a custom-made head piece to that ultimate style statement.

But don't let the outfit say it all – the judges also want a filly who is well groomed, so get that hair, make-up and those nails in tip top form to be in with a chance.

- Entry forms will be available on the day from the Arena Registration Desk and all contestants must present themselves with a completed registration form, at the Style Arena located in the Apron Views.

This year's prizes are yet to be finalised but winners previously have received thousands of dollars in shopping vouchers and holidays.
