Region's best will race to the finish

If, like us, you have worn out your PlayStation 3 controller playing Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, then this challenge is definitely for you.

Sony PlayStation, in association with Nissan Middle East, have announced their plans to give away prizes, including the chance to test-drive the Nissan GT-R, as part of their upcoming racing competition in the region – the Middle East Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Challenge. The contest, which begins on June 25, will unite gamers from across the Middle East, with heats in eight cities, starting in Riyadh and followed by Doha, Manama, Khobar, Abu Dhabi, Cairo, Jeddah, Kuwait City and Dubai on July 17.

The fastest qualifier in each round will secure their place on the grid for the live grand final, which will be hosted at Dubai Festival City on July 19.

"This is an exciting opportunity for Gran Turismo fans to find out who is the best of the best," said Tim Stokes, sales and marketing director, PlayStation Division, Sony Gulf. "It's going to be fast and furious. What better way to bring the latest instalment of one of the most successful global gaming franchises of the last 10 years to reality here in the region? We look forward to meeting the region's best drivers."

The overall champion will win a test-drive of the Nissan GT-R, plus a three-night trip to Japan. But that's not all, the winner will also receive a 40" W Bravia LCD TV, PlayStation 3 consoles and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue game. Get practising.
