With new hotels springing up everyday we are becoming spoilt for choice in the city that has everything. But when it comes to finding the right mix of holiday getaway and business retreat The Westin has got it just right. The majestic entrance with its long driveway immediately creates an air of superiority and that is exactly what visitors will find in its signature spa – simply called Heavenly.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

The dim lighting, tranquil music and water features are reminiscent of many a spa in Dubai, but what makes this one stand out is the decor. Gone are the bamboo walls – a requisite for that "I'm in Thailand look" and in its place is a sleek designer look created in dark brown mahogany, chrome and steel. The rooms are more typical of a spa with oriental-style furniture and interior. The reception area is rather bland, but it will soon be a spa café serving healthy and nutritional 'superfood' snacks and juices. Think blueberry and wholewheat pancakes, omelettes and tofu. The changing rooms are super modern and there is a sauna and Jacuzzi to relax in before your treatment.

THE TREATMENT

I chose the rollerssage massage – a unique treatment that uses perfectly rounded crystals, that are then heated up and rolled over the body to massage the muscles. The ritual started with the therapist asking me to choose three crystals. I chose one for digestion, one for the heart and one for circulation. During the course of the treatment my back, legs, arms, feet, hands and neck were massaged using the stones and oil. At first it was a slightly weird sensation but as I got used to it I rather liked it and by the end I felt totally relaxed and very calm.

MUST TRY

All the Comfort Zone products smell divine. From the glow facials that include a hand and feet massage, to reflexology, scrubs and wraps, a gym and grooming treatments even those who regularly visit spas will be spoilt for choice.
