Jetpack to take Dubai boat show to new heights

The launch of a jetpack that enables users to fly at high speed at heights of up to 10 metres will be one of 15 global firsts at the Dubai International Boat Show, which starts today.

World wakeboarding champion Nick Davies will give demonstration plus there will be live music by a new United Kingdom band High on Heels and a "beautiful mermaid" fashion show.

The show will stage 25 regional premieres and there will be more than 400 boats on display, including some of the world's most expensive superyachts.

"As well as playing a big part in bringing the industry together, the Dubai International Boat Show is one of the social events of the year," said Trixee Loh, Senior Vice-President of Dubai World Trade Centre, the organiser.

"The show offers five spectacular days of entertainment. People will be able to come and enjoy everything the marine industry has to offer, while being educated on the latest products and boats in the market."

Other attractions include a dive village a new superyacht pavilion and a superyacht boulevard with yachts measuring more than 25 metres. The show will continue at the DIMC, Mina Seyahi, until March 13.
