Loosen those knots at home
Water has been used in healing and curative therapies since ages. From bathing in rivers as part of ancient rituals to the latest spa techniques, people have long relied upon different forms of hydrotherapy for health and longevity as water can equalise circulation and body temperature, relieve pain and stimulate or soothe the nervous system and tense muscles, and treat cellulite.
Water is the source of rejuvenation and as such is the foundation of therapy at world-famous spas.
But it is not possible to visit a spa on a daily basis, no matter how tired you are because of time constraints. Also the thought of driving back home after a relaxing treatment is enough to put even the most enthusiastic spa-goer off.
However, it is possible to bring the spa to your home by having a shower, which offers a unique water therapy, installed in your home for Dh400,000.
The SilverTAG shower, designed by American spa and décor company Tag Signature, combines this ancient source of healing with 21st century technology.
John Little, Vice-President, Tag Signature, told Emirates Business: "TAG Galyean, the president of our company, TAG Signature, is also the founder and master design conceptualist of The TAG Studio in West Virginia, a family of resort design professionals. He's been designing spas for 22 years… before most United States folks even knew what the term 'spa' meant. When TAG first started designing spas, he knew the importance of hydrotherapy and consulted some folks with extensive knowledge and experience in mineral baths and water treatments. He began to develop ways to deliver those treatments inside a resort or spa environment. This began his first hydrotherapy shower, located at the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia.
"Different versions of this shower were placed in many world famous destinations. That shower concept developed over the years until a well-know Hollywood producer, after taking a shower at the Greenbrier, asked TAG to develop a shower concept for his home. TAG took on this challenge and asked his son, Taylor Galyean, to assist in the design and function of the shower. This was the first time computer controls had been used in the shower and what brought us to the shower we have today."
This is how it works. The SilverTAG shower is computer controlled to quickly and accurately change the water temperature and pressure from its 18 showerheads. Using a touch screen, you can chose from several sequences designed by spa specialists for relaxation, invigoration and to increase circulation. Custom sequences can also be created and saved for daily use.
The standard shower is designed with six zones: overhead, shoulders, upper torso, lower torso, upper legs and lower legs. Each zone is capable of varying in temperature, pressure, and time with speed and precision that would be impossible to duplicate by hand.
Fixtures have been carefully selected for each zone to have the most beneficial effects. The specialty shoulder showerhead targets the neck and shoulders to relieve tension. The shower will be customised for you or your family as it can be designed to accommodate a variety of people.
Little said: "Our shower is custom built, every time. When a client calls us, we ask them all sorts of questions… from their shower likes and dislikes to their building needs. We then meet the client and their builder, on site, to get exact measurement of the client just as one might do for a custom suit. We also like to take a look at the shower space and gather information to make sure we have a smooth installation. Then we design the shower to work for that individual space and customer.
"We also custom design the user interface to have the look the client wants and custom design the treatments for the client's needs.
"We have made a shower with hand blown glass escutcheons and mosaic floor tiles.
"If someone wants a gold bezel around the touchscreen, or they want diamonds on the touchscreen, or they want gold on the showerheads or wherever, we have the talent to make it happen."
