International business school Insead hosts its inaugural Leadership Summit Middle East in Abu Dhabi today. The event is being held under the patronage of General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

Focusing on the theme of Leadership in a Changing World: From Dreams into Action, the summit will gather distinguished leaders from business, government and academia from around the world to present their views and direct discussions.

Following Insead's Leadership Summit Asia, which took place in November 2009, this is the first Insead Leadership Summit to be hosted in the Middle East.

Based on research from the Arab World and globally, summit participants will explore a range of topics, including the region's long-term aspirations in the face of rapid social and organisational change. Leaders will also discuss human capital in the Gulf.

Insead recently expanded its presence in the Gulf by setting up its third campus in Abu Dhabi with the full support of Abu Dhabi Education Council (Adec).

The keynote speakers are Dr Ahmed Mubarak Ali Al Mazrouei, Deputy Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Chairman, Health Authority of Abu Dhabi; and Dalia Mogahed, Executive Director, Gallup Centre for Muslim Studies and an advisor to President Barack Obama on faith and neighbourhood partnerships.

"The Government of Abu Dhabi considers advancement in education to be an integral part of its social and economic development plans," said Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director-General of Adec.
