Ekta Kapoor’s top-rated TV serial shoot stalled in Dubai drama

If it’s Ekta Kapoor then drama is sure to follow.

Following a five year leap in her top-rated show, ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’, the makers of the hugely popular soap aired on Sony TV, thought best to fly the cast and crew to sunny Dubai for a new spin on an old story.

However, a script change was soon the call of the hour, much to the chagrin of Balaji Telefilms, when news started to filter out that the soap’s lead pair, Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar, were placed under house arrest by Dubai Police.

The reason: somebody from the TV unit forgot to obtain the right permissions to shoot in the emirate.

Sources on the set tell Emirates 24|7 that the police had arrived on the scene and requested to see the right paperwork.

When the crew couldn’t produce the permissions, they were asked to pack up and head back.

Meanwhile, Kapoor himself took to Twitter to confirm part of the drama, saying: “We ran into some permission problems so we has to stop the shoot, but that’s all. Both, Sakshi and me, are back in Mumbai without any problem.”

However, he rubbished reports that he and Tanwar were under house arrest in Dubai, saying: “There are rumours that Sakshi and I are under house arrest in Dubai. So just clarifying that all that is utter nonsense.”

As one of Indian television’s highest rated shows, ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ chronicles the romance of two 30-something strangers who finally fall in love post marriage.

But as Indian soaps, especially Ekta Kapoor ones, are famous for, there is enough drama quotient here to keep fans rooted.

The current five-year leap in the serial shows lead character Priya (Tanwar) settled in Dubai with her daughter Peehu (Amrita).

Meanwhile, actor-anchor Samir Kochhar has made an entry in the serial as business tycoon named Rajat Kapoor to add a bit of a love triangle.
