Aerosmith will perform at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, in Pasay City on May 8, as Manila is part of the American rock band’s 2013 world tour, which starts from New Zealand in April.

This will be the first time that frontman Steven Tyler and his team will entertain their fans in the Philippines in the 43-year career of Aerosmith that has produced 17 platinum albums.

Having given birth to some of the greatest rock classics, Aerosmith will be doing the world tour to promote its latest album, ‘Music from Another Dimension’, which was released last November.

An SM Mall of Asia official, who confirmed the Aerosmith Manila gig, said the venue is all set for the event.

Filipino fans of all ages remember the band’s latter hits such as ‘I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing’, which is included in the soundtrack of the movie ‘Armageddon’, starring Bruce Willis and Tyler’s daughter, Liv.

Older fans, on the other hand, remember the band’s ‘Dream On’ from a 1973 album as well as the hit ‘Dude (Looks Like a Lady)’ from 1987 and ‘Janie’s Got a Gun’ from 1990.

Tyler, who wrote the hip-hop song ‘Walk this Way’, was a judge for two seasons at the TV singing contest ‘American Idol’. He was a huge fan of the Filipino-Mexican contestant Jessica Sanchez, who ended up a runner-up in the previous season.
