After Sushant Singh quit the daily soap ‘Pavitra Rishta’ for a much glorified innings in Bollywood, his girlfriend, on-screen and off, Ankita Lokhande has also said adieu to the show.

It was at this show that the two actors had hooked up.

Soon after Sushant's movie 'Kai Po Che' hit the theatres, and he won instant fame with his performance, there were talks about how Ankita would also quit TV.

That rumour has come true six months later.

We hear that another TV actress Shilpa Agnihotri will make an entry, but it's unclear if she will fill Ankita's shoes.

As far as the developments in the serial are concerned, Ankita's character is currently in a coma. This could possibly be a strategy of the show producer Ekta Kapoor to find a befitting replacement within 2-3 months.

Shilpa was earlier seen in serials like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' which had clocked eight consecutive years on air. Her act in 'Kkusum' was also hugely applauded.

Ankita's exit is almost like a trend in the telly industry now. Earlier, Pratyusha Banerjee, who played ‘Anandi’ in ‘Balika Vadhu’ had quit despite being at the peak of her career, and Gia Manek, who essayed the role of ‘Gopi Bahu' in 'Saath Nibhana Saathiya' has also walked out.
