Brace yourself for yet another tween fest as One Direction is the latest international name that will be seen performing in Dubai.

The English-Irish pop boy band, comprising Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, will be ‘On The Road Again’, bringing their world tour to The Sevens Stadium on April 4, 2015 after flagging off the season in Australia in February.

Tickets for the one-night only concert start at Dh250 for bronze, Dh300 for silver, Dh500 for gold and Dh1,000 for diamond, which will be a special fan pit right in front of the stage that would fit around 7,500 fans.

Tickets go on sale on May 22 at 10am online. Fans can also line up as early as 6am at Mall of Emirates to grab the tickets at Virgin Megastore; similarly, Virgin in Abu Dhabi Mall and The Villagio Mall in Doha will open at 8am to sell tickets.

Organised by Done Events, the concert expects to draw 30,000 fans, with CEO Thomas Ovesen stating it was likely to beat even the crowd frenzy for last year’s Justin Beiber performance in Dubai.

Speaking at a press conference to announce the concert, Ovesen said: “We have been working for nearly 24 months to bring these boys to Dubai. And when that finally happened, the next step was to ensure the tickets were affordable for the fans.

“And this does not just come from us, but also the band that wanted to be sure fans could afford to attend the concert, which is why we start tickets at Dh250.”

While some of the lady fans of the band would be disappointed to learn no meet and greet is being planned, along with no possibility of a second show in Dubai, Ovesen was also confident that the five boys would “not be two hours late to perform on the night or require us to book five Lamborghinis for them,” possibly hinting at the notorious Beiber behaviour when he performed last year in the emirate.

He added: “We are confident about drawing in a crowd of 30,000 fans, of which nearly 10-15,000 will attend from outside Dubai considering there is no other show in the Middle East region for One Direction.”

In a month that has already seen one major announcement, with Lady Gaga scheduled to bring her ‘artRave: The Artpop Ball’ to Dubai’s Meydan Racecourse on September 10, the announcement by Done Events brings the emirate to the forefront once again as an important stopover for artistes embarking on their world tours.

One Direction, best known for their hit tracks ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘Live While We’re Young’ and ‘Story of My Life’ shot to fame in 2010 as finalists on ‘The X Factor’ in 2010.

Their meteoric rise and growing popularity with the female fans has seen three albums to date, including ‘Up All Night’ , ‘Take Me Home’ and ‘Midnight Memories’.

In 2013, the boy band also starred in ‘One Direction: This Is Us’, a 3D documentary and concert movie about the group directed by Morgan Spurlock, which topped the UK and US box offices and grossing over $60 million worldwide.

It is currently the fourth highest grossing concert movie.
