Following the piracy row over Malayalam blockbuster 'Premam', now it’s the turn of Tamil movie 'Papanasam'.

Just days after the Kamal Hassan-starrer hit the theatres, copies of the movie appeared online.

The film's director Jeetu Joseph asserted that he would file a complaint with the anti-piracy wing of the Tamil Nadu police.

"It is really shocking that the pirated copies of the movie have been uploaded in many online sites soon after its release. We will surely take up the issue and fight it legally," Joseph told news agency PTI.

He added that they had sought the help of a private company to monitor the cyberspace. Although this helps them track where the videos have been uploaded, it doesn't allow them to take any legal action.

'Papanasam' is a remake of Jeetu's Malayalam movie, titled 'Drishiyam', with Mohanlal in the lead. His Tamil version stars Kamal, Gauthami, and Asha Sarath. His movie is also going to be remade in Hindi by director Nishikant Kamat, under the original title, with Ajay Devgn in the lead.

The Malayalam movie industry is also under piracy threat, after censor-board marked copies of hugely popular romantic movie 'Premam' hit the online circuit.

According to Malayala Manorma, one high-school student was arrested and two more taken into custody in Kollam today, following investigations.

Film producer Anwar Rasheed had filed a complaint at the Kerala anti-piracy cell after he found copies of the movie online.

Directed by Alphonse Puthran, the movie, starring Nivin Pauly, had set the box-office register ringing. However, after the pirated copies went online, there has been dent in its box-office collections.

Actors Mammootty, Nivin, Jude Anthany Joseph, Lijo Jose Pellissery and Vineeth Sreenivasan have come out in support. Actor Dulquer Salmaan took to twitter to voice his support. "Every film deserves its maximum days at the box office. Piracy equals to theft. I support my mentor and Guru Anwar Rasheed  and team Premam," he tweeted.

In fact, the Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation are planning to close down movie theatres on July 9, if the 'Premam' piracy issue isn’t resolved.
