Ai-Ai marries live-in partner Jed Salang in Vegas

She is, indeed, the ultimate ‘cougar’ of the Philippine entertainment industry.  

The comedienne, singer and box-office queen Ai-Ai de las Alas, 48, is back in the country from Las Vegas, where she married Jed Salang, who is 20 years her junior, in a civil ceremony on April 3.

Their church wedding in the Philippines is slated for December 8, de las Alas told ABS-CBN’s news programme ‘TV Patrol’ on April 10.

She said the 20-year age gap between her and Salang doesn’t matter, as she “believes that God gave him to me”, and that their love will help them survive any trials.

She added that her children from a previous relationship—Nicolo, Sancho and Sophia—were all supportive of her marriage with Salang, whom she introduced to her fans as a businessman.

Salang had reportedly proposed to her on March 25, following a lovers’ quarrel that almost tore them apart as he allegedly beat her up. She went to the US right after the incident, in order to think things over.

“After all storms there is light,” she now said. “We love each other. Love is bigger than the problem.”

She had denied profusely previous reports that Salang, her then live-in partner, had been physically abusing her.
