There have been plenty of speculations that Aishwarya Rai is all set to make a comeback opposite husband Abhishek Bachchan and father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan with 'Happy Anniversary'. But nothing seems concrete.

The pregnant pause about Ash's return to silver-screen is more dramatic than the actress' pregnancy, delivery and the much discussed weight gain.

Now it is more and more evident that Ash is eyeing a comeback in a film with husband Abhishek only.

Recently, when asked if she was approached for a role in Farah Khan's 'Happy New Year', Aishwarya Rai confirmed the news and said she turned it down.

During an event she told reporters, “Yes, I was approached for the film but I wasn't working opposite Abhishek in it, and it really wouldn't work out that way, so things didn't fall into place but soon, will be back soon.”

The last time Bollywood actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan came together in 'Devdas', they set the Box Office on fire.

Despite their successful on-screen pair with SRK, Ash said no Ash apparently showed interest in "happy New Year' but later changed her mind as she was not cast opposite Abhishek.

The actress felt her audiences might reject the film if they do not see the couple together.

Such a clause on Ash's part is rather uncanny as the couple has been part of same movie in the past but were not paired opposite each other; the latest being 'Raavan'.

Looks like Ash wants to continue her real-life 'faithful Indian wife' image in reel-life as well.

Interestingly, Aishwarya's spokesperson had clarified earlier that the former Miss World has laid down no such conditions of working with husband Abhsihek only. A statement from the actress' representative says:

"A certain section of the media has been wrongly reporting that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan would do films only with her husband in the future. This bit of news has in the past also been circulated during the time Aishwarya was getting married and at other times as well. We would like to state for the record and put an end to any such speculation that this information is incorrect and is a figment of someone's imagination. It's disheartening to see such tactics being employed by people threatened by her position. Aishwarya has been a complete professional and will at no point let personal equations affect the films she acts in".

The statement is in contrast to what Aishwarya Rai confirmed to the media that she rejected an offer only because she was not cast opposite her husband.

Wonder whose word do we take into account now - Ash or her spokesperson?
