If the rumour mill didn’t have enough fodder already to grind this story into a money-spinning industry of its own, reported lovebirds and stars of the upcoming ‘2 States’ are now scheduled for a date in Dubai after actress Sonam Kapoor gave them her blessings.

The stars in question, namely Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor, are two of Bollywood’s youngest and more promising recruits, who are jetting into the emirate on Thursday to promote their latest romcom, a film adaptation of writer Chetan Bhagat’s novel of the same name.

While the on-screen (and off-screen) chemistry between the duo has sparked endless number of stories filling in the gossip columns, it was actor Arjun himself who spilled the beans that his cousin and actress, Sonam Kapoor approved of their romance, telling Filmfare magazine: “Sonam tells me, ‘it’s okay if you’re dating Alia, I’d be okay with it. I’ll give you my blessings’.”

As the fire blazes on with this additional fuel, both Alia and Arjun will be greeting fans on April 3 at the Global Village stage from 8pm onwards near the main food court, sharing several laughs and possibly even a leg or two to some of the more popular tracks of the film, including ‘Offo’ and ‘Locha-E-Ulfat’.

Organiser Rashid Saeed of Essar Events, said: “The film is already creating quite a positive buzz with its music and we are quite sure that makers Dharma Productions and UTV Motion Pictures have another winner on their hands.”

Essar Events is also running a competition on its Facebook page until 3pm on Tuesday, which will allow winners to greet the two stars personally earlier in the day.

Following the Dubai event, the stars will be flying off to the UK to promote their film, before returning to India. Meanwhile, writer Chetan Bhagat will be flying to US early next month to promote his latest novel adapted into a film.

‘2 States’, which is slated to release across UAE cinemas on April 17, is loosely based on the real-life love story of Chetan himself.

The romcom narrates the coupling of Krish Malhotra (Arjun) and Ananya Swaminathan (Alia) who face a culture clash when they decide to get hitched; Krish, is a Punjabi from Delhi, while Ananya is a Tamil Brahmin from Chennai.
