Amitabh-Rekha 'Silsila' sequel coming up soon?

Veteran Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan broke his decades-long silence on the rumoured love interest of his life, actress Rekha.

The actor told the Indian media that Rekha 'deserved' to be nominated to India's Upper House in Parliament. He also backed cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar.

He also told the mediapersons that he is open to working with Rekha again after more than three decades. "If there is a good story and like it then I don`t mind working with her," the megastar was quoted by Zeenews.com.

Big B was at an event promoting his upcoming film, 'Department', when the subject of Rajya Sabha nomination cropped up on Saturday.

Everyone was taken aback when Amitabh came out in full support of Rekha.

For the uninitiated, Bollywood actors Rekha and the much-married Amitabh Bachchan were reportedly in a brief relationship in the early 1980s and ever since their ‘affair’ came to an end, they have not worked together professionally since 1981's 'Silsila' (loosely translatable as situation), taking pains to avoid each other in public.

No wonder everyone was taken aback when the senior Bachchan said that the President of India nominates a few eminent personalities for an honorary position in the Parliament and he even gave the example of late actress Nargis Dutt who had been nominated in a similar way.

Big B, however, declined to comment on how the duo (Rekha and Jaya) would manage to attend the Parliament sessions given their busy schedules. He said it is their personal decision and they should be left to handle them on their own.

Once Rekha starts attenting the Parliamentary sessions, it would be interesting to watch how she bonds with Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh's wife, who is already a member of the Rajya Sabha.

So, can we expect a sequel of the 1981 blockbuster Silsila?
