Nail biting, stomach crunching, controversial – 'Bigg Boss 8' is back on TV and the first eviction was carried out by celebrity host Salman Khan.

Always in the headlines due to the hullabaloos it courts, the eighth season has taken off a tad bit boring - but it's just one week into the show.

The weekend episode with Salman Khan - #WeekendKaVaarWithSalman - saw the first eviction of the show.

Sonali Raut was shown the door of the 'BB08 aircraft', making her the first eviction of this season.

Other contestants nominated for eviction were Gautam Gulati, Sukirti Kandpal and Natasha Stankovic.

But we felt as though we were watching a re-run of Bigg Boss Season 7 with new faces, the airline concept, but the same old 'Me TV', and the same old jokes and one-liners.

A preset formula for the reality show makes it boring.

Salman Khan's jokes were not laughable; we kept wondering what was so funny about Sushant Divgikar and Upen Patel that made Salman ROFL.

Salman told Praneet that his Indian traditional dress (dhotti) is making a fashion statement in the outside world.

No, absolutely not.

He again takes up the role of angel - trying to awaken the consciousness of the contestants.

The contestants put in maximum votes for Natasa Stankovic. However, when Salman asked the contestants last night who they thought would be eliminated, everyone said Sonali, almost unanimously.

Sonali has been seen trying hard to build a rapport with everyone on the show post the nominations.

Salman called the contestants out for the same saying that it wasn’t fair on their part to gang up on someone they didn’t even nominate in the first place.

It seems Natasha has taken over Elli Avram's role this season.

The host is being nice, polite to her; at times we felt he is hitting on Natasha already.

Signing off at the end of the episode Salman had nothing new to say and repeated his last year's line - "Do whatever you want to do man"!

Whatever happened to his funny side and who is the script writer?

Though Salman tried a few times to heat up things, contestants didn’t add fuel to the fire.

Salman confesses that among all the seasons that he had hosted earlier, this season's contestants are so far the most positive of the lot. But he still has doubts on how long this positivity would stay.

Praneet is emerging as the dominant contestant while Gautam Gulati, Karishma Tanna and Aarya Babbar try to play the real game with their eyes on the finale.

The contestants will be moving out from their plane to a big, plush house which Salman unveiled to audiences.

We don't understand the concept of the airplane - why was it introduced in the first place.

But as days progress we hope things will turn spicier in the house and contestants will get more competitive.
