Abhishek Bachchan has finally broken his silence and taken to micro blogging site Twitter to thank well-wishers on his wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s, pregnancy news and hopes they have a baby girl.

The Bollywood actor tweeted: “Thank you all for so much love, support, good wishes and blessings. You have made this moment very special for us. Lots and lots of love [sic].”

When someone tweeted what the couple were hoping for, Bachchan replied: “Hope it’s a girl.”

News of 37-year-old Aishwarya’s pregnancy has whipped up media frenzy ever since father-in-law Amitabh Bachchan tweeted and blogged about the news online, late Tuesday night.

Since, analysts are already predicting the financial blow to film producers who have signed the actress on, namely Madhur Bandharkar and UTV Motion Pictures for “Heroine” and Rajkumar Santoshi’s “Ladies and Gentlemen”, opposite real-life husband.

Industry insiders have said the “Heroine” is already half complete and both Aishwarya and the filmmakers are keen to complete the project before her pregnancy becomes visible. It is being speculated the actress has just completed her first trimester and is due in December.

Meanwhile, Santoshi’s film will either be put on hold or a replacement will be found, considering “Ladies and Gentlemen” was to go on the floors from July.

Aishwarya is expected to take a sabbatical from work later this year.

Meanwhile, former boyfriend Salman Khan has surprisingly stepped forward and wished the couple well and joked that he hopes they create a brood large enough to fill up an entire cricket team.

Speaking of Salman Khan, those of you who were expecting a face-off between the two Khans of Bollywood – Salman and Shah Rukh – at this weekend’s International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards are in for a disappointment.

Salman told reporters at a recent press meet that he will be unable to attend IIFA as he will be shooting for his film “Bodyguard”, opposite Kareena Kapoor, at the same time.

The actor who recently turned producer with “Chillar Party”, which is debuting at Toronto during IIFA, confirmed the surprising twist in the tale.

“I am shooting for my next “Bodyguard” and it is an action movie, so yes, you people won’t see me there. IIFA will miss me this time,” Khan told reporters.

Meanwhile, arch enemy Shah Rukh is not only attending IIFA but also is set to perform at the awards stage after seven years. The actor has attended two editions of the IIFA Weekend in the past, in Singapore in 2004, and Amsterdam in 2005.
