Bollywood's date fight: Deepika, Sonakshi, Anushkha, Jacqueline face-off

Jacqueline Fernandez, Deepika Padukone, Anushkha Sharma and Sonakshi Sinha are four actresses from Bollywood who are extremely upset these days and the reason is the same… No, they do not have the same date, but they have a problem with dates.

The actresses have been approached for various films and shows and the dates are clashing and it is time to choose what will benefit them the most. 2014 will see all the four actresses fighting for dates, trying to shuffle and shuttle between one project to another and perhaps drop a very important project opting for what they feel is a more important one.

Let us talk about Jacqueline Fernandez first. The Kick heroine has to kick off well this year and she has to choose between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. That certainly seems to be a wonderful position to be in, because the grass is always greener on the other side.

Jacqueline’s film Kick with Salman Khan gets underway soon and she plays the female lead in the film and the poster has her well positioned too. The film also marks the directorial debut of producer Sajid Nadiadwala.

And then in the middle of February, there is a Malaysia chapter of Temptation Reloaded where she gets to gyrate with Shah Rukh Khan. The temptation may be strong enough, but she has danced with him earlier in Australia and the attraction may not be as great as about acting with Salman Khan.

Having said that, Jacqueline is desperately trying to coax her producer-director to let her go for a few days and it seems unlikely that Sajid and Salman will let her go. A couple of hugs between the Khans have not really changed things around.

Deepika Padukone

Bollywood’s Numero Uno heroine Deepika Padukone is also a victim of dates. The actress finds herself sandwiched between Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor.

Sooraj Barjatya wants to cast Deepika in his film Bade Bhaiyya opposite Salman Khan and Deepika already has committed to Imtiaz Ali for a film opposite her old love Ranbir Kapoor.

There are no sparks flying today between old flames, but then Deepika considers Imtiaz a good friend and often takes his advice too. Having worked in a Love Aaj Kal earlier with Imtiaz and having delivered a Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani with Ranbir too, the lure of the film already is high enough and add to that the commitment that she has done.

But then the bulk dates that Sooraj Barjatya wants are not what she has in hand and the badminton ace’s daughter does not want to move like a shuttlecock between two films, especially when she has been desperate to work with Salman too. “The three people I want to work with are Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan, but I am hoping to tick them out,” was her recent refrain.

Anushka Sharma
 

Band Bajaa Baraat babe Anushka Sharma also seems to be a victim of the date story. The actress has two films releasing one after the other. PK with Aamir Khan and Bombay Velvet with Ranbir Kapoor.y And both these films have makers like Rajkumar Hirani and Anurag Kashyap attached to them respectively.

The Vinod Chopra produced PK was earlier slated to release in June and now the film is releasing in December. And that is the same time that the Fox Star produced Bombay Velvet will have its velvet red carpet. And Anushka will need to decide whether she wants which film gets the better deal and she cannot do much about the film that gets the shorter end of the straw.

Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha is no stranger to a story that Anushka finds herself in. But then she will be ina tougher position as she finds herself with two releases on the same day.

Action Jackson with Ajay Devgn and Holiday with Akshay Kumar stars Sona in the lead role and she has to devote more time to one film. She did promote R Rajkumar more than Bullet Raja and the result is there for all to see. Hence both Action Jacksons will clamour for Sona’s dates and she may be able to date just one.
