'Hasee Toh Phasee' actress Parineeti Chopra walked out of Shoojit Sircar’s next movie, leaving the director stranded without a heroine to play Amitabh Bachchan's onscreen daughter.

It is apparently a women-centric film and requires an actress who is capable of delivering the role with gusto.

The flavour of the season is undoubtedly Deepika Padukone. But there were talks about rival Katrina Kaif being considered to play Big B’s daughter.

Deepika proved her acting prowess and star value in ‘Cocktail', ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’, ‘Chennai  Express’ and the latest ‘Ram-Leela’.

After producing three consecutive hits in 2013 she is the unanimous choice for the Best Actor (female) category in all the award ceremonies.

But industry experts believe that with the historic success of 'Dhoom 3' Katrina’s star power at the box-office has been re-affirmed.

So the choice came down between acting prowess and star value.

The latest buzz is that it will be Deepika Padukone and Amitabh Bachchan along with Irrfan Khan in Shoojit Sircar’s Piku.

A fortnight ago, Irrfan had confirmed that he was working in the film with Amitabh and that the shoot was to begin shortly after the heroine was cast.

Deepika who has been the producer’s favourite after being a hit machine of sorts, agreed to work in the film at a price much lower than what her market price is.

While Sircar is not confirming who the actress is we are told that Deepika wanted to do the film which is based on a father daughter relationship and she knows that her scenes with Sr Bachchan will end up being the highlight of the film, and after giving a lot of big hits, Deepika is very keen to work in movies where she can showcase her acting capabilities. And what better than working with a legend like Amitabh Bachchan, working with him and perhaps even stealing the thunder from right under his nose.

Deepika has already played Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter earlier in the Prakash Jha directed 'Aarakshan' which did not do well at the box office.

But the duo wonderfully portrayed the father-daughter relationship onscreen.

Deepika perhaps can hope to set the record straight, given her bull run at this juncture.
