Bollywood playback singer Asha Bhosle's 66-year-old son, Hemant Bhosle, lost his long fight with cancer on Sunday. Hemant had been living in Scotland for the last five years, according to reports in the Indian media.
The Bhosle and Mangeshkar family had plans of celebrating Lata Mangeshkar's 86th birthday on Monday in Mumbai when the sad news filtered in from Scotland.
The family did not speak to the media but according to people close to the family, Lata and Asha, said the two sisters held hands and consoled each other after they received the news.
This is the second tragedy to hit the Bollywood legend. In October 2012, Asha Bhosle lost her daughter, Varsha, when she committed suicide in Mumbai.
Hemant had composed music for more than 15 Hindi films from the late 1970s. The relationship between mother and son were strained over the last 10 years.
