'Heavyweight' support for Aishwarya and Aaradhya

Published

Former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen roots former Miss World, Aishwarya Rai over her 'weighty' criticisms. Arch rivals during their heydays, Sushmita lets go of the past and firmly establishes herself as Ash supporter.

Recently, she was heard telling the media that Aishwarya Rai should be applauded for giving importance to family over films at this point in her life. “I congratulate Aishwarya on the birth of her daughter Aaradhya. I think she is doing the right thing by taking time out to look after her daughter,” she told Hindustan Times.

Sush also gives some advice to Aaradhya's mother. “She should stop reading what the media writes about her or her weight, and enjoy her life. I do the same. Even my weight was a topic of discussion in the papers a few weeks ago, but I just stopped reading them,” she was quoted by the daily.

In fact, even before Aaradhya was born in November 2011, Sush only had nice things to say about Ash. She had told the media during an event at a time when Ash was in hibernation and waiting to deliver her baby. “Aishwarya has always been known to be a beautiful woman. She has brought great laurels to our country. Both of us are international winners. She is a beautiful woman who is going to be a mother, and that will increase her beauty manifold.”

It is indeed surprising that an industry that thrives on its cattiness, Aishwarya has found support for her weighty criticisms from none other than her peers and co-stars. This is probably the 'ocean of love' that she had mentioned in Cannes while terming her critics as a 'few drops in the ocean'.

Heroines like Kajol, Raveena Tandon, Sameera Reddy  and actors like Sanjay Dutt have supported her and called her weighty issues, her personal and private issue.

Kajol had vehemently supported Aishwarya. She said: “Everyone has the right to their lives and to look the way they want to!” when asked to comment on Aishwarya’s weight gain.

She further added: “Tomorrow I can put on 25 kilos, it’s my choice, my body! She’s at home, taking care of her baby. As long as it doesn’t affect her work, I don’t understand why it should be under discussion.”

Raveena had been prompted to tweet when the media had gone gunning for Aishwarya. She tweeted: “Everyones body type is different,if she’s taking time is OK..its her space, its her obligation to her child first!instead of some portions of the media, who decide what and when Ash should do with herself and her baby? shallow and double standards, wonder if they’d do the same?”

Former Miss Universe and actress Lara Dutta was also in favour of Aishwarya. "Please refrain from getting judgmental," she told the media.
