The ‘Umrao Jaan’ of Bollywood, Rekha , may soon grace the small screen
Glamorous and elegant Rekha has charmed her Bollywood fans for over 35 years giving hits like ‘Khubsoorat’ and ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’ for which she has won many awards.
Rumour has it that the seductive actress is likely to spread her charisma on television for the first time.
According to Mid Day, the actress will soon be seen endorsing a a chocolate brand.
They say chocolates can win over a woman’s heart,. So we guess even the ethereal Rekha could not turn down the offer and may soon be representing the international chocolate brand.
Indian television has often been biased towards the young crop from Bollywood until Amitabh Bachchan broke the barrier.
Amitabh became a household name after he hosted the reality game show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ (KBC) which is the Indian version of ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’. KBC gave Big B unimaginable popularity and made him a living legend.
Previously, Rekha kept herself away from the small screen deciding to focus on movies.
It is probably after observing Bachchan’s renewed popularity, all thanks to television; Rekha might have given it a second thought and decided to test the unchartered territory.
In 2004, Rekha was seen on Simi Garewal’s talk show ‘Rendevous’ where she stated that she will never come on television.
She also expressed her admiration, respect for Amitabh and wished to be like him. She said when kids and adults alike love the superstar and want to ape him, how can she not get stirred by her co-star.
So, it looks like Rekha has finally changed her mind after getting inspired by her idol Amitabh.
Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan’s alleged affair has been the talk of the town for years. Both the actors have given many films together, most of which have been mega hits.
According to reports, Rekha was previously offered to judge another reality dance show ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’- 5 but she turned down the offer.
Report also emerged that she may judge the moves of television stars on another dance reality show – Nach Baliye 5.
The show will have famous couples from the small the screen shake a leg and the one who fails to impress will be eliminated.
Well, if rumors are to be believed Rekha has charged the ‘Nach Baliye’ producers Rs 75 lakhs (Dh496,312) and has asked for a hike if the show does well.
According to Daily Bhaskar’s reports, “Rekhaji has asked to hike the fee if the TRP ratings of the show go to a certain level.”
So finally fans can hope to see this dancing diva back on screen.
