The Indian movie industry is in desperate need for some change, and here’s our list of 10 actors, who we think, should make way for fresh new talent.

Whether it’s lack of talent or despicable movie choices, these actors have made one too many mistakes to even deserve a spot in the spotlight.

So, we pick out 10 actors who need to step out and make way for generation next.

(GETTY)

Mallika Sherawat

Although she did set the screen on fire with 17-kisses in her maiden ‘Khwashish’, the leggy lass has since failed to create any sparks. Restricted by her own sexy image, Mallika has been unable to explore different genre. She might’ve got bit roles in Hollywood, but back home she’s yet to surprise us with her acting chops. It’s her lack of versatility that forces us to vote her out.

Vivek Oberoi

After making a striking impact in his debut ‘Company’, Vivek has been unable to match it with anything substantial, at least not until now. His decade-long career has been in an awful state ever since he locked horns with Salman Khan, who was his then-lover’s (Aishwarya Rai) ex-boyfriend. The backlash from his silly, public spat has cost him his acting job.

Sanjay Dutt

Despite battling many conflicts, personal and professional, this 53-year-old has always emerged unscathed. Whether it’s his dipping career or countering drug addiction, or surviving a failed marriage and numerous other botched affairs, Sanjay has shown remarkable resilience. Unfortunately, his real star power appeared during the famed Munnabhai series, way back in 2003, and a bunch of unforgettable performances thereon makes his stint here almost redundant.

Tusshar Kapoor

He’s by far the most unassuming star kid in the industry, and he has ruined far too many chances to prove his worth. Barring a few faultless comical acts as a sidekick, he lacks the acumen or the personality that’s necessary for a star. Even though his dad enjoyed a celebrated Bollywood career, and his sister proved her worth as a producer, Tusshar is yet to discover his true calling.

Rani Mukherjee

She was touted as an actress with immense talent, deservedly. But, over the years, Rani has aged into a jaded actress, doing exactly what she did a decade ago. Her lack of understanding about the business and a thirst to stay in demand, has reduced her to a spot that’s indecorous. It’s her inability to improvise and take her once glorious, acting job to the next level, that’s found her in this bad company.

Preity Zinta

It’s been six years since she sizzled at the box-office or the award circuit with a striking performance. After Karan Johar’s hit-drama ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ and a dishonest attempt at art-house cinema with ‘The Last Lear’ and Deepa Mehta’s ‘Heaven on Earth’, Preity has never shown a genuine desire for acting. It’s her decision to step back to play out her famed rom-com queen image at this stage of her career that makes her departure from the movie circles almost certain.

Sonam Kapoor

For a woman who is glorified, more, for her impeccable fashion sense, and less for her theatrics, Sonam’s place is deservedly on the ramp, and not in Bollywood. From sashaying, elegantly in designer finery for fashion shows and magazine covers, she oozes a confidence that’s unseen when she dons the hat of an actor. Although she’s got her actor-daddy’s B-town clout to bank on, Sonam’s more convincing as the glam doll.

Bipasha Basu

Models rarely make for credible actors, and this Bengali bombshell is a classic example of the ones who don’t. While she has been lucky in bagging a handful of big movies, her incapacity to emote has made those journeys rather superfluous. Apart from being arm-candy to the beefy John Abraham for over a decade, and milking a few endorsement deals, Bips has made very little contribution to Hindi cinema.

Abhishek Bachchan

Overshadowed by his glorious film family, his stunning actress-wife, and now celebrated baby, he has never struck out on his own in Bollywood. His lack of talent and mediocre movie choices, only added to those woes. Apart from Mani Ratnam’s ‘Yuva’, ‘Guru’ and Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar’, fame and glory has eluded the junior Bachchan. Despite being given numerous chances before, his is a classic case of “being at the wrong place, at the wrong time”.

Uday Chopra

Despite piggy-backing on his illustrious dad’s (Yash Chopra) film legacy, this lad’s movie career never really took off. He might’ve clicked as the comic sidekick in his home franchise ‘Dhoom’ but pitching him in the lead turned out to be disastrous for him, and the filmmakers alike. He has lucked out and his time to make a dignified exit has become apparent.
