Why is Kareena Kapoor not a Khan, yet?

Kareena Kapoor’s known to do things differently. So, when she stepped out alone for a public event post her much celebrated wedding to beau Saif Ali Khan, no one probed if it was unusual.

And, now with news trickling in that she’s unwilling to tag Saif Ali Khan’s surname along with hers, just yet, things does seem rather odd.

But sources close to the family confirm that there’s no love lost, at least for now.

In fact, if such actions had been displayed by any other newly-wed, the rumour mills would have shifted into full throttle, spinning tales of splitsville even before they could say ‘happily ever after’.

Saifeena, however, is known to be fiercely independent and always unwilling to be bogged out by Bollywood clichés.

Whether it’s being open about their living-in relationship, or tattooing their love, Saifeena isn’t the run-of-the-mill Bollywood couple.

In fact, Kareena’s decision to step out on her own for the recently held People's Choice Awards night was because her husband was unwell.

What was touted to be their first stage performance after their wedding, unfortunately turned out to be a solo affair. According to a media report, the couple was supposed to first perform individual dance routines before shaking a leg together in a special act.

“While most couples would have fussed about making a solo first appearance after their wedding, Kareena didn’t make a big deal about it. She likes to keep her professional and personal life separate,” informs an industry insider.

Since Saif’s decision to skip the event was last-minute, the organisers of the show roped in telly stars Gurmeet Choudhary and Rithvik Dhanjani to step in instead of the couple.

In another twist, Kareena is still undecided about whether she wants to add Saif’s surname to hers.

Although initial reports suggested that she’d unveil her new name during the credits of her next movie ‘Talaash’, the director Reema Kagti has clarified to the Indian media that it’s untrue.

“Kareena’s name in the credits of ‘Talaash’ will be written as Kareena Kapoor, and not Kareena Kapoor Khan. That's how she wanted it.”

The two are even gearing up for work, with Kareena reporting to work on November 5 for ‘Dabangg2’, and promotional activities for her November release ‘Talaash’, and Saif heading to the film sets of ‘Bullet Raja’.
