Bollywood bigwigs bid farewell to Yash Chopra with tearful eyes

The legendary Bollywood filmmaker Yash Raj Chopra was cremated at Pawan Hans crematorium on Monday evening in Mumbai with moist eyes and prayers.

Yash Chopra body was accompanied by his family members, close friends and actors Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.

Many Bollywood stars including Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherji, Adnan Sami, Rajpal Yadav, Mukesh Bhat, Raj Kundra, Suresh Oberoi, Kiran Rao, Rohit Shetty and others paid last respects to the filmmaker.

Born in 1932 in Lahore, Pakistan, Chopra was the youngest of eight children, one of whom was elder brother B R Chopra, who was already an established name in the film industry.

Chopra has made some of Indian cinema's most memorable films such as Deewar, Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila and Chandni. His flamboyant style of film-making, movies filmed in exotic locales and mellifluous music became a hallmark, endearing him to filmgoers.

Chiffon sarees and the Swiss Alps are so synonymous with Chopra's style of film-making that Switzerland Tourism even offered visitors a guided tour of the places where the director filmed some of his most famous songs and scenes.
