Janine Tugonon, who was first runner-up at the 2012 Miss Universe beauty pageant, and her boyfriend have split up allegedly over ‘The Script’ frontman Danny O’Donoghue.
She met the Irish singer-songwriter and rapper when his band did a concert in Manila on March 31, and they have since been exchanging text messages, to the dismay of Jaypee Santos, her boyfriend of one year.
“Honestly, we’re not currently in good terms,” Tugonon said of Santos when she guested on ‘KrisTV’ on April 16. Santos, a software engineer whom she met while working as a pharmacist at an IT company, was also present at the show.
Admitting that she is a great fan of The Script, Tugonon said she had asked friends at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, where the Irish alternative rock band played, to introduce her to the group, especially O’Donoghue.
This was The Script’s second concert in Manila in two years. The band is famous for such songs as ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’, ‘Breakeven’, ‘Hall of Fame’ and ‘Six Degrees of Separation’.
Tugonon said she even introduced Santos to O’Donoghue when he asked her if she had a boyfriend during their meeting. She added that the Irish celebrity also asked her to follow him on
Twitter, and that he sent her a “direct message” afterwards.
Her exchanging of messages with O’Donoghue, who last year broke up with his girlfriend Irma Mali, a Lithuanian-born model and actress, has angered Santos and led to their breakup.
She said she feels that O’Donoghue wants to know her better, as “we are talking”, although she clarified that they are not an item yet.
Santos, in the meantime, has been reported in the media to have willingly let go of Tugonon, but that he was ready to take her back anytime.
