Reality TV star Heidi Montag and her ex-husband Spencer Pratt traded angry words on Twitter this weekend following revelations that he is peddling an alleged sex tape with her as its star for a whopping $5m million (Dh18.3m).
Montag first took to the social networking site to express her frustration at ex-husband Spencer Pratt, posting one word to her page on the social networking site on Friday, when the news broke. "Crying," she said, before pleading with her followers: "Please send me your prayers and love I need it!"
But on Saturday evening, "The Hills" star went much further, posting: "@spencerpratt F U!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
That was likely a reaction to a statement Pratt gave celebrity website TMZ.com, telling them he wants to sell the tape to adult film company Vivid Entertainment to help Montag's career.
"When I realized how much Kim [Kardashian] was making, my logic is this is the best thing I can do for my ex-wife. Kim is on the cover of Allure right now. Heidi isn't on the cover of Allure," the website quoted him as saying.
Not that he's ignoring his own interests, however: Pratt is reportedly asking $5m for the tape, a price Vivid apparently does not consider unreasonable. Vivid has confirmed to media that it is negotiations with Pratt about a tape. However, he could make even more money, if claims that he can create an entire website from the footage in his possession are true.
"I will knock Club Jenna out of the water," he said.
But in response to Montage, he said on Twitter: "Seriously? You're going to start s*** on twitter?" That was right after he promised "the Citizen Kane of sex tapes", asking fans to "wait for the Special Edition Sex Tape. Blu-Ray, director's commentary, and bloopers!"
New material
Word has now emerged of a second tape, featuring Montag getting intimate with Playboy model Karissa Shannon, according to TMZ.com, which says it is a hardcore video of the pair. While the report said Montag's reps refused to comment, it said Shannon confirmed the existence of the tape but said it was unlikely Pratt had gotten his hands on it.
Montag, obviously, isn't pleased at all. Although she has not released any official statements about the scandal, her friend Jennifer Bunney told Radaronline.com, "she would never put out a sex tape of herself. She's extremely religious and concentrated on getting her life to where she wants it to be."
And if that wasn't enough, Pratt now wants to release a tell-all book about his failed marriage.
Montag is reportedly looking into her legal options to halt both the video and the book.
Montag, who is best known for her role on "The Hills" and for having had 10 plastic surgeries in a single day, launched a career as a singer earlier this year. Her debut album, "Superficial", was released this January, but poor advance notices meant it was only available digitally.
After 15 months of marriage, she filed for divorce from former co-star Pratt, 26, last month; their divorce is expected to be finalised on Valentine's Day 2011.
