No jail for Salman Khan now; Court suspends sentence

LATEST: Bombay High Court suspends Salman Khan's jail term pending appeal on Friday morning.

The actor is asked to surrender before the trail court and furnish a fresh bail bond of Rs30,000.

Salman Khan also has the right to seek permission to travel abroad, said the judge.

Bombay High Court will decide if Salman Khan will go to prison today in the 2002 hit-and-run-case, in which one man was killed and four others injured.

Two days earlier, the trial court had found the actor guilty of culpable homicide and sentenced him to five years in prison.

Immediately after the sentencing, he moved the High Court that granted him interim bail until today.

Today is the final working day of the High Court before it closes for summer holidays until June 8.
