Anubhav Sinha can’t be pleased.
Word drifting in from the sets of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Ra.One” is that tensions are brewing between two of Bollywood’s top directors – Sinha, who is directing “Ra.One”, and Karan Johar, who is Khan’s best friend.
And it seems the cause of the tension is the Bollywood superstar himself, who has insisted that Johar direct the romantic scenes for the sci-fi superhero film.
“Shah Rukh is extremely close to Karan and some days back he had tweeted, inviting Karan to come and direct a couple of scenes for him. SRK wrote that Karan is his lucky mascot and that’s why he wants Karan to do it,” the Mumbai Mirror newspaper quoted a source close to the film unit as saying.
Khan and his wife Gauri are producing the film, and the actor believes no one can do romance like Johar.
More pertinently, the combination of Johar-Khan combination has never failed at the box-office so far, whether “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” up to the recently released “My Name Is Khan”.
Superstitious Shah Rukh considers Karan his lucky mascot and clearly can’t seem to do without him.
Johar, who has long been in thrall to the top actor, has rather unsurprisingly agreed.
“Karan left for London on Friday night and has also begun shooting from Monday. He is going to shoot for two days and after that Anubhav Sinha will once again take over as the director of the film,” the source said.
Khan was delighted his old friend had showed up.
“Really sweet to see Karan on an action film shoot. Should blow the cars to “Kal Ho Na Ho” music. Kajol in a guest role in the flying cars....ha ha,” Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page.
The actor insisted Johar was only helping out. “Karan assisting us for a day. Hopefully we will make the schedule,” he wrote.
According to reports, though, the film’s shooting unit has been divided in two parts. One is under Anubhav Sinha’s command and the other is under Karan Johar’s.
Sinha will continue to shoot the primary montages and action-packed sequences of the feature, while Johar will be shooting the mushier bits.
Both Johar and Sinha have wisely refrained from commenting.
