UAE female singer flees after Saudi party is raided

A famous UAE female singer escaped arrest after she fled the scene when Saudi Arabia’s religious police stormed a music party in the Gulf Kingdom and arrested its organisers, a newspaper reported on Wednesday.

Shamma Hamdan was singing at the party in the Saudi capital Riyadh when members of the influential Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice raided the place and stopped the performance, Al Saudeh Arabic language daily said.

“There was news that Shamma Hamdan managed to flee. Organisers of the party were arrested,” the paper said without giving other details.

Shamma, one of the most famous UAE signers, was born in Dubai in 1994 to Emirati father and mother.
