Are these candid confessions or a shrewd marketing ploy to create a buzz before the lead up to their respective film releases?
The cynics will definitely swing towards that end of the pendulum, but it cannot be denied that both Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif have suddenly become chatty about their highly publicised break-up, especially since both have films lined up for release.
On September 8, Kaif’s ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ will release across UAE cinemas, while Kapoor’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is set to release during the Indian festival of Diwali.
In the past few weeks, both Kapoor and Kaif have respectively given interviews talking about the break-up and the impact the media blitzkrieg had on the relationship and its aftermath.
Now Kapoor, who features on the cover of the September issue of Vogue India, has gone ahead and given a few more column inches to the doomed love affair.
In the interview, the actor talks about the time he fell in love with Kaif.
According to the him, it was when he worked with the actress in ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’.
Talking to the magazine about the film and Kaif, Kapoor is quoted as saying: “[‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’] had simple storytelling, it had heart, and I also fell in love during that film, with Katrina.”
The movie directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, released in 2009.
Interestingly, this was right about the time he called it quits with Deepika Padukone.
However, wasn’t Kaif still dating Salman Khan at the time?
While the mind boggles at the timeline, the duo were later paired opposite each other again in ‘Rajneeti’ in 2010.
Kapoor spoke further about Kaif, adding that she has been the “most inspiring and motivating factor in my life. Period. That is too dear to me… And I don’t want to sell it.”
The rest they say is history.
