Did Shah Rukh Khan's nasty temper cost him his security men?

Until 10 days ago, eight constables from the Mumbai police's Protection and Security Branch used to guard Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan in two shifts.

But from now on that will not be the case.

After a recent review by authorities Shah Rukh has been stripped of police security. The authorities felt that SRK no longer faces any threat. If a threat arise, they will reconsider the situation reports Times of India.

But an officer with the department said that the Wankhede Stadium episode and Khan's scuffle with filmmaker Shirish Kunder at a party had also resulted in the decision.

"A person's behaviour is also taken into account while reviewing his security," the officer said.

It may be recalled that Shah Rukh, who owns an IPL cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders, had an ugly spate with the security personals during a match. According to the authorities Shah Rukh behavior was objectionable. But the actor stood by his explanation that he got into the scuffle only after security men misbehaved with his daughter and her friends.

The stadium incident followed soon after his full blown public brawl with filmmaker Shirish Kunder.

Reportedly Shah Rukh Khan slapped best chum Farah Khan’s husband Shirish Kunder at a party thrown by Sanjay Dutt. Eyewitnesses say that the fight was initiated by Kunder, who was drunk, and had been following SRK around, making provocative remarks. Earlier, he had also sent out a distasteful tweet about SRK’s brainchild 'Ra.One' which was unable to perform to expectations.

In the first half of 2012, he was embroiled in two controversies – fist fights, no less – leading to Bollywood gossip pundits spelling the end of him.
 
Shah Rukh was provided police cover in 2008 after the 'Indian Mujahideen' sent an email to news channels, threatening attacks on him and three other celebrities.

Some industrialists also figured in the terror outfit's 'hit list'. Intelligence reports of fresh threats against Khan in 2010 forced authorities to maintain the cover, though the number of policemen was reduced to half.

Last year, the Mumbai Deputy Police Commissioner submitted a report, warning of threats from the 'Lashkar-e-Taiba' to Khan and his son, Aryan.

However, months after the report, the Protection and Security Branch carried out an audit, and decided to withdraw the cover.
 
In 2010, police protection provided to 54 celebrities, including Karan Johar, Vivek Oberoi, Firoz Nadiadwala, Himesh Reshammiya, Pritish Nandy, was withdrawn.
