Dubai fans upset over '30 Seconds to Mars' gig postponed

In yet another blow for UAE concert goers, 30 Seconds to Mars has announced its April 10 Dubai gig will be postponed by several months, citing ‘scheduling conflicts’.

The news comes mere days after Zayn Malik of One Direction quit the popular boy band, weeks ahead of their April 4 Dubai gig at The Sevens Stadium.

In a post on its official website, 30 Seconds to Mars stated: “Due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts we are rescheduling Mars in Dubai to Friday, September 25.

“Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused. Tickets are still valid for the rescheduled show.”

The post further states tickets for the new show date will be available on Thursday, April 2. Organiser Live Nation further stated all purchased tickets bought for April 10 show will be valid for the new date.

In a statement, it further added: “Live Nation has also committed to a full refund for anyone who wishes to do so through Ticketmaster. [It] has confirmed concertgoers can expect a full refund to be returned to them within four working days of applying for it.”

All details on how to claim a refund are posted on Marsindubai.com. Deadline to claim the refund is on Friday, April 10.

Organisers has also promised to give 10 per cent of all existing concert goers who already purchased tickets the opportunity to enter a lottery for a chance to win ticket upgrades, signed merchandise or meet and greet with the band.

Fans based in UAE were not pleased by the date change, with Jennifer Revely tweeting to band front man, Jared Leto: Just bought my tickets to see 30 Seconds to Mars in Dubai. This expat life just gets better.”

Haya said: “30 Seconds to Mars rescheduled their Dubai concert to September 25. Thanks, guys! I hate you.”

Morgan Clark said: “First Zayn, now 30 Seconds. This is not a good week for concert goers in Dubai, that’s for sure.”

The Dubai concert gig for the three-man rockers was to be part of the Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) three-day weekend, starting on April 9 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Front man and Oscar winner Jared Leto, along with brother Shannon Leto and lead guitarist Tomo Miličević, have sold over five million albums worldwide, with the band’s videos generating over 500 million YouTube views.

The band is noted for its energetic live performances including their number one hit singles, ‘From Yesterday’, ‘Kings and Queens’ and ‘This Is War’; the band’s fourth studio album ‘Lust Love Faith + Dreams’ debuted at number six on the Billboard 200.The band released their critically acclaimed music documentary ‘Artifact’ on iTunes worldwide where it has been a regular at the top of the charts.
