A movie is being planned on the life of an UAE-based Indian. Ashraf Thamarassheri, a social worker in Ajman, has to date helped repatriate 2,000 bodies.

TA Razak, a popular Malayalam screenplay writer, is in Dubai meeting with social workers, film personalities and technicians to roll out his project in the Emirates.

Basheer Thikkodi, an UAE-based Indian author, has written a book about Thamarassery,  who was also recently elected the best social worker by Media One Television Channel.

Anil Vadakkekkara, who is the cameraman for the film, confirmed the news. “We are going ahead with the movie on Ashraf Thamarashery, and the movie will be directed by TA Razak. The entire shooting will be done in the UAE.”

Meanwhile Thamarassheri said: “I heard a movie is going to be made about my social work. It is a good gesture to send the right message to the community. It is an incentive to other social workers, too, in the Gulf. My work will continue  irrespective of whether books or cinemas are made about it.”

Emirates24|7 had covered Thamarassheri’s work.

After writing screenplays for several blockbuster movies, involving superstars such as Mamooty, Razak has now turned to direction.  One of his earlier films Perumazhakkalam (Season of Heavy Rains), bagged many awards.

Razak, who started as a clerk at the Kerala Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) said he is also writing a screenplay for his 39th movie, which is centered on a female character.

“There are many touching stories from the Gulf and the movie about Thamarassheri, a selfless community worker, will be well received in India,” he said, adding that his latest movie, Moonnam Naal Njayarazcha (Third Day is Sunday) starring Salim Kumar, is also a success.

Razak said he will join hands with famous director Sibi Malayali for a new movie.
