Aamir Khan’s stunned by the not so wonderful response to his film 'Talaash' which was beaten by the 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' collections on Day 1. Aamir was hoping that this film too would emulate the fate of the film 'Ghajini' which did very well at the box office beating the then SRK release 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'. Both these SRK films were with Yash Raj Films.

And as expected, Aamir has decided that this next release will not be the Raj Kumar Hirani directed 'Peekay', but will be the third installment in the franchise from YRF – 'Dhoom 3'.

It was being speculated earlier that Aamir would first shoot for Peekay even though he had begun the shooting of 'Dhoom 3'. But soon after the by now good response ('Talaash' collected Rs 40 crore on the weekend) to the film 'Talaash', which however does not compete in the super blockbuster war because of the slower start, Aamir has decided to piggyback on the good run YRF is having at the box office after 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Jab Tak Hai Jaan' and will shoot for 'Dhoom 3'. Hence the Christmas release date in 2013 that was reserved for the release of Hirani’s 'P'eekay' will now go to 'Dhoom 3'.

'Peekay' was to go on the floors right after the promotions of 'Talaash' ended, but then Aamir has decided that it will be 'Dhoom 3' first. Going by the way, Aamir normally allocates dates to one film at a time, it is being expected that 'Peekay' will now be shot only during the summer of 2013.

And yes, 2013 will see only one Aamir Khan film releasing and that will be the Vijay Krishna Acharya directed 'Dhoom 3' opposite the lucky charm for the other Khans – Katrina Kaif. And yes, the lucky charm banner also being Yash Raj Films. 'Dhoom 3' also stars Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in key roles.
