After Vikram Bhatt’s horror thriller ‘Raaz3’ wasn’t released in the UAE, over objectionable content, it’s now the turn of Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘OMG! Oh My God’ to be axed.

Talking to Emirates24|7, the National Media Council (NMC) confirmed that the movie won’t release this Thursday.

“We have not cleared it. Some scenes in the movie are disrespectful to all religions. I have just got the first report. We will be reviewing it again, but at this point it is not cleared,” said Juma Obaid Al Leem, director of the Media Content Tracking Department at the Council.

“In the UAE, we respect all religions, so we don’t accept anything against such ideas.”

All the top movie showcasers – Reel Cinemas, Grand Cinemas and Vox Cinemas – have confirmed the news.

Emirates24|7 had first speculated about the fate of 'OMG'.

Will Akshay's 'OMG' go the 'Raaz3' way in UAE?

Directed by Umesh Shukla, the movie, which is an adaptation of a Gujarati play titled ‘Kanji Virrudh Kanji’, also stars yesteryear actor Mithun Chakraborty in a lead role.

The movie, with the tagline ‘Kanjibhai is taking god to court’, is scheduled for September 27 release.

Way back in 2008, the Salman Khan-Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘God Tussi Great Ho’ was also banned because of similar content.

While updating about the status of ‘Raaz3’, explained that the movie was still “under review”.

“We had asked the distributors to bring another copy, but they have not done it. So, until they bring it, we can’t do anything,” he added.
