Bigg Boss Salman makes Katrina cry

With their relationship over, Salman Khan seems keen on making Katrina Kaif pay for wounding his pride.

Most people who saw “Bigg Boss”, the Indian version of “Big Brother”, on Saturday night could see how uncomfortable Katrina Kaif appeared in the presence of her ex and Khan seemed determined to give her a hard time.

Now that the actress is reportedly going out with superstar in the making Ranbir Kapoor, Khan couldn’t stop making jibes at her new relationship, her favourite co-star Akshay Kumar and her inability to speak Hindi.

Although she has made several television appearances to promote her film “Tees Maar Khan”, she was driven to the edge by Khan, who is known for his whacko and weird sense of humour.

When Farah and Katrina arrived on the sets, Sallu played the perfect host.

They even indulged in a game of cricket at his chalet, near the Bigg Boss house.

While Farah chose to be a spectator, Kat did a bit of batting while Salman bowled.

“Everything looked fine but once the cameras rolled, so did the host's witty remarks which were outright sarcastic,” a source told Midday.com.

"As Farah stepped inside the Bigg Boss house, Kat was left alone on stage for a greater part of the show. At first, she played along but after a point she couldn't take his digs."

She broke down and retreated to her make-up room.  When she returned, the portions were re-shot. The offending parts were not aired.

The source added, "Kat was professional enough and stuck on, teary eyed, as she was there to promote TMK."

Priyanka, Kareena kiss and make up

Bollywood bombshells Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor sunk their differences to perform for Mumbai’s finest over the weekend.

The top actresses recently locked horns through film director Karan Johar’s chat show, “ Koffee With Karan”, but were seen hugging and whispering at the Mumbai Police event Umang on Sunday. The two also danced together with Saif Ali Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

The pair have been at loggerheads since they worked on “Aitraaz”, but things were stirred up when Kapoor told Johar: "I want to know from where Priyanka got her accent".

In reply, Chopra, who appeared in the next show said, "From the same place where her boyfriend got it." Priyanka also clarified that as she has studied abroad it was natural for her to have an accent.

How long they stay friends remains to be seen!

Corruption inspires Bollywood film

With some of the biggest names in Indian politics and business linked to a massive telecoms scam, one canny Bollywood producer hopes to cash in on the scandal.

The UK based Hiten Group has announced its maiden project, a film titled “Radiation”, which will explore the life of the controversial lobbyist Niira Radia, a Kenya born British woman at the centre of what has been called the 2G scam.

The film will be the directorial debut of duo Vijay Desai and Alpesh Dixit. Item girl and small-time actress Poonam Jhawar has been cast to play Radia.

“It is amazing that a woman is at the centre of the controversy that shook the nation. It would be interesting to see how she came to wield such power over the most powerful names in the country,” Jhawar was quoted as telling the Indian Express newspaper. The actress had a small role as Sunil Shetty’s wife in the 1994 film “Mohra”.

She says that with the concept in place, the work on the script will soon begin and the team will carry out its research on Radia’s life. “We may not know the outcome of the scam yet but Radia’s life will make for an interesting subject,” she said.

“Radia-tion” is likely to rope in talent from both Hollywood and Bollywood, Jhawar said, and aims to begin shooting in sometime in March 2011.

Deepika to play Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter

Deepika Padukone has been cast as Amitabh Bachchan’s daughter in “Aarakshan” because of her resemblance to the actor.

Director Prakash Jha reportedly considered two other Bollywood actresses before when he decided to go with Padukone. "I began to flesh out the part - make it more dramatic," said the director.

"That's when I thought of Deepika in the role of Bachchan Saab's daughter. They're both tall and look quite like father and daughter."

Shooting for “Aarakshan” will take place in Bhopal and begin in 2011. It will be Padukone’s first film with Bachchan and Jha.

Ten years of wedded bliss for Hrithik

Superstar Hrithik Roshan, who marked the 10th anniversary of his marriage with Sussanne Khan Monday, has thanked his friends and fans for their love.”Been reading all tweets…thank you so much for all your wonderful wishes! Sending our love to all out there,” Hrithik posted on Twitter.

Actress Mallika Sherawat was among many who wished the couple, the website thaindian.com reported.

“Happy anniversary to Hrithik and Sussanne…A loveliest of couples! Many more happy years to you both,” she posted.

Hrithik and Sussanne have two children - Hrehaan, four, and Hridhaan, two.

No more playback singing for me: Alisha Chinai

Indian pop star Alisha Chinai, whose hits include the Bollywood songs “Kajra re” (”Bunty Aur Babli”) and “Tera hone laga hoon” (”Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”) to her name, thinks playback singing is ridiculous and says she can’t do it any more – no matter what she’s paid.

“Aishwarya and Katrina are beautiful women. But sorry, I didn’t enjoy watching them pretending to sing my songs ‘Kajra re’ and ‘Tera hone laga’. My God! It’s so ridiculous! Would you ever see Julia Robert singing in Madonna’s voice? Over here this practice of ghost voices just spooks me out, man. I can’t do it, sorry,” she told the Times of India.

She is particularly upset over the  chartbuster “Munni badnaam hui,” which has been picturised on Malaika Arora.

“Who knows it is sung by Mamta Sharma? Everyone sees it as Malaika’s song!”

The singer, who has had one of the biggest non-Bollywood hits with “Made in India”, is frustrated at being unable to fight the system. “For years and years, the heroines have been walking away with the credit for songs sung by us playback singers. Today things have come to such a pathetic and sorry state for playback singers that no one knows the singers’ identity any more. Who knows I sang ‘Tera hone laga’ for Katrina and ‘It’s rocking’ and ‘Bebo main bebo’ for Kareena? In fact, many people think they sang these numbers!” she said.

“I’ve told my manager not to even entertain any offers for playback singing. I can’t do it. In the past, I saw Sridevi walk away with all the raves for my song ‘Kaate nahin kat-te’ in ‘Mr India’. It hurt then, it hurts more now. I’d rather sit at home jobless than allow my talent to be used to further any actress’ popularity!”
