'Grand Masti': Bollywood's 'mainstream' adult film crosses Rs100 crore
Bollywood film 'Grand masti' has created a record by being the first film in the 'adult' genre to cross the Rs 100-crore mark at the box office.
Bollywood's veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted recently: "And it's a century... Grand Masti crosses Rs.100 crore net mark in India. First 'Adults' film to attain this status."
The film starred three has-been male actors - Aftab Shivadasani, Riteish Deshmukh and Vivek Oberoi. All three have been part of A-list films in the past, but their successful run in the industry was brief to say the least. All being good actors, the trio's last-ditch attempt to revive their careers has received a tremendous boost.
Meanwhile, they are celebrating the film's success at the box office, despite being termed 'too vulgar' by reviewers and critics alike.
Aftab Shivadasani took to Twitter to thank his fans."And history is made - the first adult film to make Rs.100 crores! Feeling elated to be a part of history! Thank you all."
The film 'Grand Masti' is a sequel to superhit movie 'Masti', which was released in 2004.
