World famous opera singer Sarah Sweeting reserved high praise for a Dubai airport manager who took care of her and other passengers after the Qantas jet they were on was rerouted to Dubai las Friday.

Sydney opera singer Sarah Sweeting told Australia’s Channel Nine that it was the Dubai Airport manager and staff who came to the rescue of the 258 passengers.

"After the emergency landing we were told when we got off the plane that there would be ground staff to help us to complete the journey,” Sweeting was quoted as saying, adding, "The airport manager, said this; "I will not go home until all of you are either on a flight, or in a room and have your baggage. I will not leave you."

Flight QF31 had taken off from Singapore bound for London when it suffered engine problems about two hours into the journey.

Passengers, including British actor Stephen Fry, completed their journeys to London with Emirates and British Airways.

Sweeting commended the flight crew for handling the emergency well but was angry Qantas looked after its staff but not its passengers.
