It was a melodious treat for music lovers in the capital city when Indian playback singer Shreya Ghoshal performed at the National Theatre in Abu Dhabi yesterday.

As the several time national award winner performed her hit numbers during the four-hour concert, the elated audience went euphoric asking for more of her sweet voice.

Starting with the chart topper ‘Teri Meri Prem Kahani’ from the Salman Khan blockbuster ‘Bodyguard’, Ghoshal, in a red layered dress with crystal-crusted black top, appealed to the crowd to make her first-ever performance in Abu Dhabi a memorable experience for her to take home.

From her latest hip-shaking numbers like ‘Ooh La La, Ooh La La’ from ‘Dirty Picture and ‘Chikni Chameli’ from ‘Agneepath’, the artist sang a versatile mix of songs including A R Rahman-compositions and ever-green melodies of Lata Mangeshkar well as her  melodious numbers like ‘Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai’ and more.

All in the mood to indulge her fans, Ghoshal was quick to respond to the ceaseless cries from the South Indian crowd for songs in Malayalam and her mother tongue, Bengali as well.

After her debut in 2000 in Bollywood mega movie’ Devdas’, which was a reprise of a romantic novella, the ‘Sa Re Ga Ma’ reality music show star had no looking back.

She has won four National Awards as Best Playback singer and several Filmfare awards.

Shreya has sung in several languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Kannada, Assamese and Gujarati to mention a few.

Shreya was accompanied by Shivprasad Mallya, a famous playback singer who has performed in hundreds of concerts all over India.

Radio Mirchi RJs Yachna and Shardul pitched in to spice up the evening with their interactions with the crowd.

The event was presented by Peugeot and Omar bin Yousef companies, and organised by Ashraf Pattambi.
