The rumour mills have been churning for a while, but Flash Entertainment has finally confirmed the news via its Facebook page that Snoop Dogg will perform in Abu Dhabi on May 6.
The Yas Island concert, which is part of the organiser’s Flash Forum series, will see the hip-hop star take to the stage with tracks from his new album “Doggumentary”, which released on March 29.
The artiste’s 11th studio album, features a long list of all-star feature appearances including Kanye West, Wiz Khalifa, Gorillaz, R. Kelly, T-Pain, Young Jeezy and production from Lex Luger, Scott Storch, The Cataracs and many more.
The news spread like wildfire across social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, with many UAE-based fans already lining up for the tickets, which Flash has said will go on sale shortly.
One fan, Abdullah Eissa Aka-Tj messaged on the Flash page: “Mad respect for this but it would be perfect if Wiz Khalifa was the opening act for Snoop.”
While another, Annabel Mercy messaged: “Please where can I buy a ticket and how much is it? I can’t wait to see Snoop.”
Snoop, meanwhile, has also been in the news of late for a supposed collaboration with troubled actor Charlie Sheen and producer Robert Patterson.
Writing on his twitter page, Sheen said: “Warlock meets his makers-music makers that is @SnoopDogg @robpatterson666 get ready to rock the Sheenius within!(sic).”
While no details about the track have yet been revealed, the 45-year-old star is reportedly hoping to release the single as soon as he returns from his "Violent Torpedo of Truth" tour, which kicks off this Saturday in Detroit, and ends on May 3 in Seattle.
