Jagathy Sreekumar, the veteran comedian of South Indian cinema who suffered multiple injuries in a near-fatal road accident early Saturday morning has show 'slight improvement'. However he remains critical, according to the latest bulletin by Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS) Hospital, Calicut.
The actor will continue to remain on ventilator for another 48 hours, before he undergoes surgery. His kidney has been affected in the impact of the crash. He also suffers from serious injuries to his chest, neck and stomach. A ten-member expert medical team is constantly monitoring him.
Sreekumar, 62, the Charlie Chaplin, of Malayalam film industry, who has acted in more than 1,000 movies sustained severe internal and external injuries after his car crashed against a road divider on National Highway in Perambra. The car driver escaped with minor injuries.
Sreekumar was on his way from Thrissur in northern Kerala to Coorg in Karnataka to film director Lenin Rajendran’s latest project.
Meanwhile, his fans in the Middle East are expressing their solidarity via social networking sites. “We want you to come back to life, to make us all laugh again. We are praying for your recovery,” one Facebook post read.
