Apart from the animated ‘Ice Age’ adventure and Anurag Kashyap’s notorious gang war, the motley collection of forgettable tales at the cinemas this week definitely prompts us to skip the movie trail altogether and avoid stepping out in the scorching heat.
With summer setting in, ‘Ice Age 4: Continental Drift’ could cool us down, but considering its earlier instalments where nothing to write home about, the expectations from this one are limited. But clearly, this will be a great pick to keep the little ones entertained.
‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is a grilling drama that backtracks in time to determine the birth of the mafia in India. With critics and audience in India lauding Kashyap’s efforts, this two-part movie that made a grand entry at this year’s Cannes Film Festival shouldn’t be disappointing.
Apart from these, there are two distasteful horror flicks – ‘Chernobyl Diaries’ and ‘Heartless’ – which can be safely left untouched and reserved for a later DVD viewing at home.
The next week, however, appears far more promising with the return of Spidey with ‘The Amazing Spiderman’, and if reports from India, where it released today, are to be believed, this one’s a great watch!
