What to watch, and what not to
Unlike last week, this week doesn’t appear too promising for a movie-goer.
Of the lot, it’s Roman Polanski’s “Carnage” that appears the most outstanding, with Jodie Foster, Kate Winselt, Christoph Waltz and John C. Reilly creating a manic ruckus over their warring sons. Our gut says it’s going to be riot!
Also, “The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” appears to be fun but, that’s if, you have the power to overlook Dev Patel’s poor imitation of the Indian accent and the Western clichés about India. But with power-house performers like Judi Dench and Bill Nighy, this one should be an amusing watch.
However, that rule of thumb doesn’t work for “The Son of No One”, which has got a poor review from the critics all over, despite featuring Al Pacino in the lead. “The actors are good, but the script is... lackluster, to be charitable,” wrote a reviewer on a movie site.
For the action fanatics, there’s “Wrath of the Titans” in 3D, and for the ones who can stomach meaningless ghastly, horror flicks, there’s “Burning Bright”.
And with no big stars in the lead, Bollywood’s “Blood Money” might have few takers, but if Kunal Khemu’s first solo effort, “Kalyug”, is anything to go by, then he might spring a surprise. Let’s see!
