The 66th Cannes Film Festival is celebrating 100 years of Indian cinema and this could have been the perfect occasion to launch the theatrical trailer of superstar Rajinikanth's next movie 'Kochadaiyaan'.
But this was not meant to be. Neither 'Kochadaiyaan' nor Rajinikanth is in Cannes.
The trailer, of this period-drama, supposed to be unveiled at the ongoing Cannes film festival, was called off at the last minute because the team is still working on the final output of the trailer.
Just before the beginning of the festival the film's director and Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya Ashwin posted on her Twitter account, "(The) trailer (is) shaping out well. (I'm) working on more surprises. All efforts are going in to release it as soon as possible."
The film's unit, including Rajinikanth was all set to leave for Cannes but Soundarya was not happy with the outcome. She was not satisfied with the final output and hence was not ready to send any sub-standard work to the festival.
The whole trip was cancelled at the last minute and hence the no-show from Rajinikanth and 'Kochadaiyaan'.
It also features Deepika Padukone, Aadi Pinisetty, R. Sarath Kumar, Jackie Shroff and Shobana. The music of the film is composed by AR Rahman.
'Kochadaiyaan' is touted to be India's first motion-capture feature film made along the lines of Hollywood film 'Avatar'.
