UTV has a fine array of movies coming up soon. While they have acquired the rights of a book on fictional account on Chanakyaneeti, which could easily be made into a political film, UTV Motion pictures has also bought over some interesting remake rights.

The news now is that Shah Rukh Khan has in fact given the nod now to work with Rohit Shetty in his Angoor remake.

Angoor is the story of two people in double roles and the comedy of errors that follow. The film was made by Gulzar. Not many including some learned men at UTV however are aware that Angoor itself was a remake of Do Dooni Char which was produced by Bimal Roy. We will not be surprised if someone from Bimal Roy productions files a case against UTV for infringing copyrights. Angoor had Sanjeev Kumar and Deven Varma in lead roles while Do Dooni Char had the legendary Kishore Kumar with Asit Sen and both of them in double roles. The film starts with a ship being lost at sea and two sets of twins, two masters and two servants being lost. And when the twin is placed in the other person’s domain, all hell breaks loose.

Incidentally now we are being informed that Shah Rukh Khan has given the go ahead for the film to be shot in the first part of next year after King Khan completes filming for Yash Chopra. One peek at Shah Rukh Khan’s date diary tells us that the film can go on the floors in March and be completed in the month of June. This means that the film can be released by Diwali next year. So next year’s Diwali could again belong to King Khan, going by Rohit Shetty’s desire to get Diwali releases!

We wonder what will happen if Yash Chopra also decides to come on the same Diwali day. Yashji’s last release Veer Zaara was also a Diwali release.
