Members of Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL) held a meeting with the villagers of Daultapur in Barabanki, state of Uttar Pradesh (India) and informed them that Amitabh Bachchan wanted to start the Aishwarya Rai College, named after his daughter-in-law, as soon as possible.

The mega-star's Sewa Samiti (ABSS) will take up the responsibility of construction instead of actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada's Nishtha Foundation who was supposed to build and manage the college.

The village committee has handed over the land to Amitabh Bachchan Sewa Samiti (ABSS), a newly formed organisation. The construction work will start soon. Initially, there would be a school from nursery to class 12 and later on it would be upgraded to a degree college.

Amit Singh, son of the village chief Raj Kumari Singh has been appointed as secretary of the ABSS.

The foundation stone of Aishwarya Rai College in the Daulatpur village was laid on January 27, 2008. But as Bachchan friend and politian Amar Singh was kicked out of the Samajwadi Party, the project ran into trouble.

But according to reports, with renewed zeal the Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited plans to start work on the project as soon as possible.
