Heartbroken Jiah Khan's last rites performed by tearful family

Actress Jiah Khan, who committed suicide, was buried on Wednesday afternoon at a cemetery.

Bollywood actor Jiah Khan, 25, who was found hanging in her apartment on Monday night, was depressed and heartbroken over her rocky relationship. No suicide note was found in her room.

With moist eyes, family members and close friends buried Jiah at around 2 PM at Juhu cemetery.

Celebrities like Aamir Khan's wife Kiran Rao, Riteish Deshmukh, Aditya Pancholi with son Sooraj, actor Raza Murad, TV actress Urvashi Dhokalia and others were present.

It is learnt that Aamir Khan, with whom Jiah starred in 'Ghajini' paid his visit to the family.

Jiah was reportedly in a relationship with Sooraj Pancholi, son of actor couple Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab. She was heartbroken after a failed relationship with him which possibly drove her to commit suicide.

Police informed reporters that Jiah's boyfriend Suraj Pancholi, son of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, was questioned for three hours.

The last person Jiah spoke to on the night of June 3 was Suraj. Police have verified that they spoke over telephone a number of times, with the last call being made at 22.53 PM which lasted for two minutes.

A post-mortem revealed that Jiah hanged herself between 11 and 11.30pm, soon after she last spoke to Suraj. Her body was discovered by her mother.

Jiah's mother and sister had gone out and she was alone at the house when she took the extreme step.

According to Jiah's mother, the actress was depressed after having been rejected at an audition in Hyderabad. She wanted to pursue a career in interior designing as she wasn't happy with her film career graph.

Director Ram Gopal Varma, who gave the Britain-born actress Nafisa alias Jiah a Bollywood launchpad with 2007 film 'Nishabd', was in "shock" over the news of her death.

He says she was depressed about her career, and scared about her future as she had no work the past three years.

Jiah shot into the limelight in 2007 with her debut movie 'Nishabd' in which she starred opposite megastar Amitabh Bachchan. She got a Filmfare Best Debutant nomination.

She later worked in Aamir Khan's 'Ghajini' and Akshay Kumar's 'Housefull'.

Born and raised in London, Jiah, also known as Nafisa, had shifted to India to pursue a career in acting.
